What does GOTS mean, and why does it matter?

GOTS stands for the Global Organic Textile Standard — the world’s leading certification for organic textiles. It ensures that the entire journey of a fabric, from field to finished product, meets strict environmental and social standards.

What makes GOTS special?

To be certified, a product must meet criteria at every stage of production, including:

  • Organic farming – no harmful pesticides or GMOs
  • Safe processing – low-impact dyes and no toxic finishes
  • Fair working conditions – protection for workers’ rights
  • Independent verification – audited by approved certifiers

Why does it matter?

When you choose a GOTS-certified product, you're choosing something that’s:

  • Safer for your child – free from harmful chemicals
  • Kinder to the planet – using less water and energy
  • Fairer for people – protecting those who grow and make the materials

At Petite Amélie, we use GOTS-certified organic cotton in many of our textiles — from baby bedding to soft toys. It’s one more way we ensure our products are safe by design and made with care, inside and out.
